High head water pump for hot water waste allows designers to locate Cocktail Bar exactly where they want
Sophisticated party venue, Electric Shuffle London Bridge, has taken a lightning rod to the addictive game of shuffleboard, a game involving as much skill as chance. However, it’s not by chance that a DrainMajor 1030HES hot water pump has been specified for automatically pumping wastewater from the Cocktail bar to the drainage system allowing the designers to locate it in the most appropriate place.
The DrainMajor 1030HES water pump for hot water is specifically designed for pumping hot wastewater to a maximum of 90°C. It is capable of pumping high discharge heads up to 13 metres closed valve.
The Cocktail bar is positioned at the far end of the London Bridge premises, a considerable distance from a suitable gravity drainage point. The discharge pipe run is arduous, firstly 3 meters horizontally then 9 meters vertically then from this high point dropping 15 meters into a discharge stack.
Project Manager Jarlath Mooney of leading M&E contractor, K&M Technical Ltd., says “The specified pumping system takes wastewater, often very hot, from three sinks and a glass washer in the Cocktail bar area”
The unit is located in an alcove in an adjoining, slopping corridor. The K&M team needed to cut into the floor to ensure that the collecting tank would sit flat. The installation also includes an active carbon Microvent that allows the pumping system to breath and vent, but prevents odors. It also features a remote alarm to indicate an overly high wastewater level within the tank.
Jarlath says “Recently the client experienced the operation of the battery backup function of the high-level alarm. This was caused when a maintenance electrician wrongly isolated a circuit that included the pumping system. They were impressed by the volume of the alarm which enabled them to quickly check the pump and get the power turned back on before any damage was caused!”
The automatic DrainMajor water pump for hot water requires very little maintenance, just regular inspection of the tank interior to remove any collected debris. This is easy to do as no tools are required to remove the tank lid.
The perfect case of the right equipment making the designers job easy!
